Juggling Act

You would think after being the circus for 6 summers that I would know how to juggle. I don’t. However, I’m usually pretty good at juggling life, keeping things organized, and making lists to stay on track. Yesterday was another crazy Monday that got away from me, which meant no blog. Today I promise to fill you in. So, what’s been happening around my neck of the woods?

Friday morning started with Burn Circuit 1; week 3 of CLX. Reminder, I haven’t been doing Burn Intervals or Burn It Off due to my back; I might try them out this week to see how it goes. I have been subbing those cardio workouts for running and walking. My morning workout got me pumped for the day.

Friday Workout

Friday was a busy productive day in the office. I was ready though when the clock struck 5 p.m. It had been a long week and I was ready to relax and recharge. First up, happy hour to hang with fun people. The boys made a bet and the loser had to buy the other guy a shot – Irish Car Bomb.

Happy Hour Friday

Saturday was nice and relaxing. Woke up, went to the Farmers Market, walked around the city with my friend who is leaving for two weeks (boo, hiss) and then headed to San Antonio for the boy’s office kickoff party.

San Antonio Soccer Game

The last time I went to a soccer game was in college. Maryland’s soccer team was really good. They were ACC champions when I was there twice. It was fun to watch the game; sad to see the home team lose.

Sunday brought a little work in the morning, followed by a birthday celebration in the afternoon and a little Ray Donovan later that night. How amazing is this cake. It was a bunch of cupcakes put together and then decorated. They weren’t gluten free, so I didn’t have any, but they looked and smelled amazing!

Birthday Party

Yesterday was a crazy day in the office as I mentioned before. We have 5 shows in the next 2 months with another 5 currently scheduled for the beginning of next year. Making this, checking things off. Got in a great workout after work. It was JUST what I needed. Seriously, nothing like a good workout to release stress.

CLX Burn Circuit 2_Part 1 CLX Burn Circuit 2_Part 2

I absolutely love ChaLEAN Extreme. I’m only on week three, but I’m already feeling so much stronger than I did three weeks ago. I have a photo app on my phone that has a timer. Not only is it great to take pictures to share, but it’s great to check my form. I realized yesterday that when I do deadlifts my back ends up arched. It’s either that I’m not that flexible yet, or not that strong and I”m lifting too heavy. Going to figure it!

Well that’s it for now. Off to work on my to-do list for work. Have a great day y’all!

Question: What did you do this weekend?

Lift Heavy!

I’m back at it again folks! Started ChaLEAN Extreme last week and picked it up again yesterday. Might have lifted a little too heavy because I’m feeling it today. Good news is my back is holding up. YAY!!! What I love most about ChaLEAN Extreme is that the workouts go by quickly, they are extremely effective, and the program teaches you to lift heavy.

CLX Burn Circuit 2

Ladies, if you are afraid of lifting heavy because you are afraid of bulking up, DON’T BE! You will not bulk up; we do not have enough testosterone to build muscle mass like men. There are so many benefits to lifting:

  1. Burn more fat and calories (even after you workout)
  2. Have muscle definition
  3. Fight osteoporosis
  4. Build strength faster
  5. Blast belly fat
  6. Feel powerful
  7. Prevent injury

Here are two articles that talk about weight training for women:

Even though I haven’t lifted in three months, I felt strong. I definitely need to rebuild muscle that I lost, but it not be as much as I had thought. I’m going to compliment my workouts with cardio – running, recumbent bike, and possibly CLX Burn Intervals (if my back can handle it). Getting back into a workout routine is super important to me. I have missed it in my life, and overall feel better and healthier when I’m active. Not to mention my stress level goes down and I sleep so much better (an issue I’ve been having the last couple months).

Question: Do you weight train? How many days a week?

Moving and Grooving

I have to be honest, I have had so much going on this week at work that by the time I leave I just go home and crash. I haven’t gone to any MeetUp events this week, but I figure that I am allowed to have one “quiet” week. However, next week has to be different. It is very important for me to get out and meet people.

I promised myself when I moved that I would put myself out there and make new friends. This is important whether you move to a new city, or if you have come to the conclusion that you need to make different friends. Chalene Johnson, the author of PUSH and fitness enthusiast, frequently talks about the negative people in your life and how you should not make time for them; that it is important to “tighten your circle” and surround yourself with positive people who lift you up, not bring you down. Life isn’t about how many friends you have, it’s about the quality of friends. Asses your social scene this weekend and consider making new friends. It’s not always easy to cut ties with people you have known for several years, but it is better than letting them bring you down. You deserve to be happy (remember that, ALWAYS).

Moving on 🙂

Yesterday was another long day in the office. I’m moving and grooving and getting things done. So many wonderful things happening, and I CANNOT wait to share with everyone!

I started my morning with a fabulous workout. My back is still not 100% (go to the doctor’s next week), but I am not making excuses; still getting my sweat on. It’s important to note that while you can sometimes work through an injury, make sure you modify so that you do not further injure yourself.  If you aren’t sure how to modify your workout ask a trainer or your doctor.

I’m love Insanity; one of my favorite programs. Insanity Asylum 1 is just as amazing that I am strongly considering getting Insanity Certified so I can teach classes. Last year, I signed up to be a Beachbody Coach because I wanted the discount, but after going through my transformation it became SO MUCH MORE.

Plyo 1Plyo 2Plyo 3Plyo 4Plyo 5

My life did a 180 when I started working out last January 2, 2012. I committed to P90X for 90-days, I was drinking Shakeology, and eating right. I had amazing support from my coach, my challenge group (added accountability), family and friends. Throughout my journey I gain self-confidence in who I was as a person (daughter, sister, and friend) and learned my own self-worth. I MATTER (and so do you).

Because of this I started thinking about other ways that I could help people achieve their fitness goals and create healthy lifestyles for themselves. Being and active Beachbody coach is one of the, but getting certified as a personal trainer was another.

Unfortunately, because of cost I have to put that certification on hold. Thankfully though, Beachbody has created a program where you can get certified to be an Insanity Trainer. It’s more affordable and it’s a program that I believe in. Has anyone gone through the certification? What did you think? I’ll let you know what I decide to do. Stay tuned!

Before I end this fabulous Friday blog, I will leave you with what I ate Thursday. I made DELICIOUS gluten free “spring roll” with a dipping sauce (recipe to follow) that made the whole meal. I didn’t take a picture of my evening treat, but I go fro-yo AGAIN. I’m starting to think I need a fro-yo intervention. I wonder if I can go 21-days without eating fro-yo. Hmmm, I might take on this challenge. I’ll let you know Monday. 🙂

What I Ate Thursday

Lindsay’s “Spring Roll” Dipping Sauce:

  • 2 Tbsp. Gluten Free Reduced Sodium Soy Sauce (San-J)
  • 2 tsp. Fish Sauce (Thai Kitchen)
  • 2 tsp. Rice Vinegar Lite (Marukan)
  • 1-1 ½ tsp. Toasted Sesame Oil
  • 1 tsp. Sirarcha Hot Chili Sauce (amount vary depending on how hot you want the sauce)
  • 1 Tbsp. Minced Ginger

Hope everyone has a FABULOUS Friday!

awesome and bombdiggity
